Cremona
Located in the heart of the Po Valley, Cremona is famous for its violins and Stradivarius. It’s a city rich in history, stunning architecture, and exquisite cuisine.
We’ll stroll through the streets of medieval and modern Cremona, visit the cathedral with one of the most interesting fresco cycles in Lombardy, stop by the tallest brick tower in Italy (and the most courageous can climb its 505 steps to the top!), and stop at a local delicatessen where you can sample local specialties like torrone and mostarda.
During our stay in Cremona, we’ll visit a violin workshop, where we’ll learn about the violin-making process and many interesting facts about the profession and craftsmanship, which is listed as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. We’ll also visit the violin museum, learning about the history of families associated with the violin-making craft since the 16th century. There will also be time for lunch with local delicacies.
