Prada 1913

Milan, 1913. Two brothers, Mario and Martino Prada, begin their business as manufacturers and sellers of luxury travel accessories, handbags, trunks, and suitcases. A few years later, the Fratelli Prada sign appears in the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. The company gains recognition from the Italian aristocracy, and its greatest distinction is becoming a supplier to the Italian royal court. In the 1970s, Mario's granddaughter, Miuccia Prada, takes over the company's management, and she, along with her husband, Patrizio Bertarelli, still manages the group to this day. Today, Prada also owns Pasticceria Marchesi 1824, a Milanese pastry shop with over two centuries of tradition, and the Fondazione Prada houses a collection of contemporary art.
